Creating sustainable solutions that drive social and economic growth across the Mara region of Kenya.
At the Mara Region Community Development Organization, we are dedicated to creating lasting, positive change through six essential initiatives that impact tens of thousands of people in rural Kenya. These programs, designed with and for the communities we serve, address fundamental needs and build a foundation for sustainable growth.
A Mara Region where empowered communities drive their own growth and shape a sustainable future
To empower communities in the Mara Region by delivering sustainable solutions in health, education, economic opportunity, and food security, fostering independence and resilience.
Empower a generation of young leaders through the Martin Luther King III Scholarship Program. This initiative provides Kenyan students with access to a life-changing education, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to create brighter futures for themselves, uplift their families, and transform their communities.
The Mara Region Community Development Organization has partnered with communities across Kenya to deliver life-changing solutions. We are proud of our impact which includes:
more than 400,000 patients served by Baraka at the hospital and mobile outreaches.
We believe in the power of collaboration. Our long-standing partnerships with local and global organizations have been key to our success. Together with foundations, corporations, and academic institutions, we’ve been able to scale our impact and develop sustainable projects that continue to thrive.
As a long-time supporter of the community initiatives, I’ve been deeply impressed by the organization’s commitment to sustainable development. I’ve had the chance to witness firsthand how the educational programs, especially at Kisaruni High School, have given young girls opportunities that were previously unimaginable. These young women, who are often the first in their families to receive formal education, are not just learning—they are thriving and becoming community leaders. This is exactly the kind of long-term impact that makes every dollar donated feel worthwhile.

I’ve followed the healthcare initiatives for several years now, and the transformation I’ve seen is incredible. Baraka Hospital has truly changed the landscape of healthcare in the region. It’s heartwarming to know that the hospital, with its maternity wing and outreach programs, is now a cornerstone of health for so many rural communities. The fact that over 7,000 babies have been safely delivered there since the opening of the maternity wing is a testament to how much has been accomplished.

I’ve been a proud supporter of women’s empowerment programs, and I can’t emphasize enough how deeply I’ve been moved by the stories of transformation. The Women’s Empowerment Centre and programs are not just offering financial literacy and business training; there fostering a sense of agency and independence among women who have long been marginalized. To see these women start businesses, support their families, and become leaders in their communities is both inspiring and humbling.

We work with the MOE to formulate and implement educational policies and to enhance the quality of education at Kisaruni by aligning curricula and programs with national standards
TVETA work with Legacy College to regulate and coordinate training in Kenya through licensing, registration and accreditation of programs, institutions, and trainers; as well as to assure access, quality, equity and relevance in education and training.
We partner with the Nursing Council of Kenya to uphold high standards in nursing and midwifery by ensuring quality education, best practices, and regulatory oversight. This includes establishing and updating training curricula, accrediting institutions, administering licensing exams, and maintaining essential records in accordance with the Nurses Act.
We partner with the TSC, which oversees teacher professional standards and ethics, to ensure adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethics, thereby promoting integrity and professionalism among educators
We partner with the Narok Women Representative and her office to support women in implementing income-generating initiatives and essential programs that foster sustainable positive outcomes.
We partner with the Mara Conservancies to advance environmental conservation and sustainable land use. Through this collaboration, we implement student-led tree-planting initiatives supported by seedling donations from the Conservancies, strengthening ecological impact and promoting environmental stewardship.
